Laptop Loan Program

The David Fraser Radiology Research Foundation (DFRRF) provides financial support for the lease of a limited number of laptops by the Radiology Research Office, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Dalhousie University. These laptops are intended to improve network access for learners working under the mentorship of a faculty member with a primary appointment in the Dalhousie Department of Diagnostic Radiology.

Eligible students

  1. The learner must be enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program. Summer students must have been enrolled full-time in a post-secondary program immediately prior to the loan term and must be planning to return to full-time studies in the fall.

  2. The learner must be supervised by a faculty member with a primary appointment in the Dalhousie Department of Diagnostic Radiology.

  3. This program is not intended for residents or fellows within the Department of Diagnostic Radiology. These learners are asked to contact the RRO for options.

  4. The related project work must require institutional network access.

  5. Priority is given to those learners who are funded by DFRRF Studentships.

Note that the DFRRF assumes the recipient has access to institutional systems. If the learner is not already set up within the institutional network, please contact the Research Facilitator as soon as possible to discuss options/feasibility.

How to apply

  1. Supervisors and/or students should contact Angie Kinsman, Research Facilitator (radiology.research@dal.ca) as early as possible to identify potential need.

  2. Whenever possible, students applying for a DFRRF Studentship should indicate whether they will require a laptop when submitting their application.

  3. The Research Facilitator will regularly review requests received, determining appropriate loan terms based on need.

  4. The Research Facilitator will respond to all requests with a decision, including both the student and the supervisor on the communication.

  5. Successful applicants will be required to complete a form when they pick up the laptop. This form clearly outlines the duration of the loan and the responsibilities of the students. A copy of the form will be provided to the student and their supervisor.
